Liberia
Liberia is located along the coast of West Africa. It is bordered by Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Cote d’Ivoire.
5.25 million people live in Liberia. 250,000 people were killed during the two civil wars between 1989 and 2003.

More than 20 tribal languages are spoken in Liberia. English is the official language.
The Liberia flag is modeled after the US flag. The eleven stripes represent each person who signed the Liberian Declaration of Independence. The white star symbolizes Liberia as the first independent republic in Africa with a western-style governance.
The Liberian dollar has been the currency of Liberia since 1943. 150 Liberian dollars is worth around $1 USD.
Both schools are located in Paynesville near the capital city of Monrovia. They are about a one hour drive away from each other.
